Car Rental and Airport Check-In

Arriving on a Friday. Can we ';check-in'; for the Mirage (and check for upgrade) at the airport? If so, can you tell me where? Also, I need help in deciding which car rental agency to go with. I%26#39;ve read here that the agency counters are at the baggage claim area. Is this all of the companies (ie; Budget, Dollar, Thrifty, Alamo, etc) Any suggestions?

MGM Mirage and Harrah%26#39;s Entertainment both have full service hotel registration facilities right at McCarran International Airport. They are conveniently located in the Terminal 1 baggage claim area near the Carousel No. 1 to 2 area at the base of the escalators.

There are two separate registration areas; one handles two (only) MGM Mirage hotels (MGM and New York-New York) , the other Harrah%26#39;s Entertainment properties (Caesars Palace, Paris, Harrahs, Bally鈥檚, the Rio and the Flamingo). Telephone number for the check-in counter at the airport is 1-800-818-7450 for all hotels except the MGM and NY-NY. Airport check-in counter phone for the MGM and NY-NY is (702) 261-5211.

Does anyone have any car rental recommendations (or negatives)?

I%26#39;ve used Thrifty over 30 times in Vegas and I never had any problems with them. I book online and then keep checking their rates. If their rates drop, I either contact them or a cancel and rebook at the lower rate. I did that twice on my last rental.
