Sunday
I wake up, again, at 5:30am, and cant get back to sleep. Hubby is sound a sleep. I figure that since he got the coffee yesterday, I will return the favor, today.
So, downstairs I go…good girl that I am… straight to the $5.00 BJ table, and cash my $100 bill. %26lt;smile%26gt; There are 3 other people at the table. The guy on the end, his shiny, bald, funny shaped, head is betting the minimum – but is talking as if he is a professional BJ player. Next to him is a nice gal, who has a meeting starting at 9am (on a Sunday?). On the other side of me, playing anchor is the friendliest gal you have ever met, I think she was from Texas. She is also probably the most experienced, betting $25-$50 a hand. The bald guy keeps doing stupid stuff, like splitting 6’s against a face card and hitting 15’s against small cards, and rubbing his shiny mis-shapen head. He is getting very angry because he is the only one not winning at the table. He is also trying to tell me how to play, GRRRRR! The anchor and I keep looking at each other, trying to hold back our smiles, every time he loses his money, because he just did something stupid… like buy insurance for a $5.00 bet. He is convinced that the house is cheating him, swears, and storms off around 8am, broke, and sweating from his head – good riddens! OMG! I forgot about hubby%26#39;s coffee. I borrow the anchor’s cell and call my room. Hubby was still sleeping, so we agree to meet in the room at 10am, whew! BJ continued. I play until 10am, having had at least 6 Baileys and coffees. It’s 10am now and I can’t believe I’ve only made $7.00. Well, guess it’s better than losing. Get hubby’s coffee, Vanilla Latte, stop to say good morning to Jesse, get a Bloody Mary and a water (for me) and off to the room I go. Hubby is ready, waiting, and starving. Crap! That means a buffet is in my future, I can tell.
He chooses the Aladdin. We get there 10:45 and they change to lunch at 11:00. Perfect! Hubby eats his 12.95 worth+ of breakfast AND lunch. And I enjoyed the breakfast fare. It was really good, for a buffet.
Back to the Orleans to enjoy the pool, the heat 103, and a few frozen drinks. We have tickets to see the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert tonight at Sunset Station’s outdoor theatre. I had bought tickets to see them at the Mn state fair, last year, but Johnny Van Zant had to have a growth removed from his vocal cord and so that concert was cancelled. I was bummed. Had great seats too. This LV trip centered around these tickets. I was SO psyched!
So, when I feel that we have been sufficiently crisped by the NV sun, we make
the trek down the long hallway, to get ready for the big Skynyrd concert at 7:30pm. A nap %26lt;grin%26gt;, shower, and cup of coffee later, we are on our way to Sunset station, using the directions that I had printed on Mapquest before I left home. We pull up to the casino, and on the big marquee ……… in big red letters …..it reads……..SKYNYRD CANCELLED. My heart drops. %26lt;sigh%26gt;
We decide since we are there, we will get our refund. Apparently, Johnny had an emergency appendectomy. Hubby says, “Van Zant is going to call you personally and tell you not to buy tickets for their concerts anymore, because the next time you may kill him!” Too funny!! Oh well, at least we can still gamble. I sit down at the .25-cent wheel of fortune machine, with an attitude that this casino owes me big! $20 in, two white russians, nothing out. Shoot! Muligan, white russian. Mulligan, white russian. Move machines. $20 in, white russian, nothing out. In case you lost count, that $80.00 no spins. Oh well, Let’s look for hubby. I’m a little tipsy but I’m sure that I see him standing next to a red, white, and blue dollar machine that is lit up like the 4th of July and playing “your in the money”. YIPPEE! Hubby win’s $2500 (less tax of course). Hubby decides rather than carrying me home, we should leave now. Good call! After several nightcaps with Rick the bartender, at the Orleans, and a $50 loss at VP at the bar, we make the trek down the… what now seems to be the never ending…. long hallway. It’s 2am, and I’m spent. It was a good day, I decide, before passing out.
Monday
After sleeping until 10:30am, we go to Fridays in the hotel for lunch. It was exactly what everyone says, slow but very good food. I’m in no hurry, Im on vacation! We have bloody marys while we plan our last full day. We decide to first hit downtown, for craps – and then we’ll come back and take the shuttle bus to Barbary Coast so that hubby can drink and not have to drive. That’s exactly what we did. We valet parked behind the Coast casino downtown, and walked right in. It was great. I must say that I was awesome at craps, throwing 17 straight passes, without a 7. I made everyone a lot of money, except me, because I was only playing the pass line ($5) and the odds ($10), and I never hit my point again. Somehow the my tips were given to the workers. Not sure why, all they did was pay the customers… Im the one rolling the damned dice! Oh well, it was a blast anyway. I love the energy of craps. Came out up $55, after three hours. Not much of a win, but again, it’s not a loss either. Hubby had ACG coupon for free hot and beer, which he enjoyed. %26lt;yuk%26gt;Drove back to the Orleans and got on the shuttle to Barbary Coast, on the strip. Played a little wheel of fortune, and then ended up taking a cab to the Hilton to go through the Star Trek experience. Although spendy, we both thought it was great fun. Stopped in the bar and had some sort of smoking, blue drink and got a kiss from a very young and handsome Klingon (SP?). Yummy%26lt;to both%26gt;. We gambled through the Hilton, on slots, winning some losing some. Went to see the wax museum (cant remember what hotel that was in? Maybe Ballys?) but hubby wasn’t convinced and gave me the choice of the museum or a drink. He bought me the largest pina colada (long skinny foot long glass) I have ever seen. Obviously, I opted for the pina colada, lol. We walked for what seemed like hours, and my feet were throbbing. Took a cab back to Aladdin, and went to dinner at PFChangs, around 9pm. I almost fell asleep waiting for our dinner. I would say the food was ok at best. The service was slow, and the food was dry. I didn’t care, at this point, just wanted to get back to the hotel, put up my aching feet, and crash. Which is exactly what we did after hubby paid the bill – two dinners and two sodas = $36.00+tip.
Tuesday –
Well, we counted our winnings, over morning coffee, and we shouldn’t have. We are up almost $3000 at this point, and we have to leave the casino to drop off the car around 2pm for a 4:30 flight back to Mn. We are playing on the casino’s money now, and are on a gambling mission. We decide we will play dollars, to make our fortune. Three hours later, we leave the casino with about $1500 and a subway sandwich. OUCH! Well, “IT” could have happened! We will call this trip a win, albeit small, and will have to return to win “IT” another time. The Orleans was a great hotel, although a little large for me. I actually prefer staying downtown, small and cozy, and walking distance to everything I need. I think hubby prefers me there, as well, because when I’m MIA he doesn’t worry about me as much. Hope you enjoyed what turned out to be a novel about LV. Sorry about the length. Hubby promises to bring me back soon to see Barry Manilow. Someone please warn Barry that I’m coming, and tell him to take his vitamins!
PS after speaking with the slot host at the Orleans the only comp we got was $13.00 (combined). We really didn’t play that much at our hotel, until the last day.
5/19-5/23 Orleans final part 3
Too funny..Susabelle. Enjoyed your TR. I%26#39;ll be at the Orleans in July. Hope I have as much fun as you seem to have had.
5/19-5/23 Orleans final part 3
$1500 in three hours only got you $13 comp money, ouch! I guess i don%26#39;t understand the whole thing well enough.
Good report, but don%26#39;t assume a player that bets higher amounts has more experience.
Thanks for the excellent post, I agree about downtown being more cozy. I had the same experience with craps in the Bahamas (Freeport). Thanks again.

Thanks for the great reports - hope you win ';IT'; next time
You played blackjack for awhile sitting at the same table with someone splitting sixes against the dealers 10 and another player is betting $25.-50 a hand???????? You said the shiny bald headed guy was stupid. Still laughing.........I cannot drink and play blackjack or craps cause I%26#39;d lose my senses also.
I would like to know how the pool is at Orleans. Were there many children at this hotel?
The pool at the Orleans is fantastic.
Lots of kids running around , having fun.
Lots of kids in the water means 1 THING.%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Dont go in the water.
