Going to Hugo%26#39;s Cellar (4 Queens) for dinner on a Tuesday. Any recommendations on an after dinner show/lounge act, preferably one you can just walk into i.e. no advance tickets required
Downtown question
Good Question.
Downtown question
Check the Plaza. They usually have lounge acts going on, especially on the weekends.
Beware though-the plaza%26#39;s Omaha lounge has clear signs on the stage that say, ';no dancing';.
That is really a tough one- Downtown doesn%26#39;t have much in that department. You might swing by the Sports Book at Golden Nugget, because last time we were there ( it was either a Monday or a Tuesday) they had a really good show band performing there- which I guess they do on nights when there is no action for the Sportsbook. They usually have a sign right at the entrance. The group we stopped to see was really terrific. I%26#39;ve gotta say that Omaha Lounge stuff at the Plaza has been really cheesy the couple of times we walked throughj usually a group of Japanese musicians in cowboy hats. There is usually better music out on Fremont Street in the bandstands - or the guy who plays the piano on a flatbed truck. But , truthfully , that is one area where Fremont Street is not good- you%26#39;d be better off back on the Strip after you dine - maybe at Bellagio ( I think it%26#39;s called Fontana Lounge) or Caesar%26#39;s Palace (Cleopatra%26#39;s Barge)
OK, don%26#39;t flame me on this; I%26#39;m serious. Popped into Fitzgerald%26#39;s (very briefly) one evening last March. Had to use the restroom which I discovered was up the escalator on 2nd floor. All kinds of crazy commotion going on up there. Come to find out, they had a bar up there and were doing Karaoke. It was packed; everybody was getting into it. People in the audience were dancing. It was a hoot. I decided to order a beer and watch for 15 min. May not be your thing (not really mine either), but it was very entertaining.
We were in Las Vegas over Memorial Day week-end. We heard a great rock and roll band in Fitzgerald%26#39;s. We sang and and danced and had a great time. At least on Freemont you can get into the bars! Not as spazazzy as the Strip, but a WHOLE lot less crowded! We were there for a family reunion/surprise birthday party. There were a bunch of us and we just made our own fun. We stayed at the Plaza. There were bands there each night, lots of poeple listening, and the bands didn%26#39;t sound too bad. Have fun!
