Trip Report: Four Seasons, MGM, 5 Nights and Almost no Sleep

Day 1: Arrive at McCarren, and was picked up by my brother. I surprised him with a room at the Four Seasons our first night. We arrived at 4S and had to wait for our room, however, we headed to the pool to eat lunch and have a few drinks We split nachos and quesadillas had a couple drinks and the tab was $70, so long $50 incidental credit. The chairs at 4S had about an hour wait list, so we departed the tranquillity of the 4S and entered the anxiety filled pool area of Mandalay Bay. After spending about 5 min. at MB we realized that we would not find any chairs, we took a lap in the lazy river, and headed to our room which was now ready. Room was nicely decorated, and included a 42'; plasma TV. We later got a phone call that our chairs were ready, so we head down to the 4S pool, an attendant set up our chairs, got a pitcher of water, and a couple of frozen alcoholic concoctions. Another $70 later, we head upstairs to change for dinner and head to the brew pub at Monte Carlo. We did a little gaming there, and slowly made our way back to 4S, by the time i hit the sack, at 5am. I am about $400 richer.

Day 2. As I was waiting for my brother to get ready, I end up giving back the $400 to MB in about 20 min at BJ. We Checked out of 4S but still used the pool all day. Another nice thing about 4S is you can use the spa facilities for free, which includes a locker, so you can change there if you have already checked out. Lunch at the Burger Bar at Mandalay Place. We both had the American Kobe Burger which was excellent and well worth it. We then headed over to MGM to check in. No Line, at check in, room was on 21 with a view of the pool. Played poker til dinner and we went to Gonzalez y Gonzalez at NYNY. I had Enchilada%26#39;s which were average, but still decent. Went to Nine Fine Irishmen for a pint, then called it a night. As we headed back to MGM, I told my brother that I was going to play poker for an hour, this was about 3:30 am, I ended up playing until about 11am. Now I my body is finally adjusted to Vegas time!

Day 3

After about 3 hours of sleep, I wake up and join my brother for lunch at the Poolside Grill at MGM. Had a Cheesburger which was exceptional. My brother hits the pool, I hit the poker tables until dinner. Tonight we go to Olive%26#39;s at Bellagio. Unfortunately, we are not able to get a table outside, but still had a great time. I had the fois gras app., and a rigatoni entree. I also sampled the vanilla souffle desert which was so good words cant describe. We did a little gaming at Bellagio, and went the the Fontana Bar (not sure if that is the right name) to have a drink and catch the last fountain shows from front and center, I highly recommend this lounge, as they had a good band, and great place to watch the fountains. We slowly make our way back to MGM, with a shortstop at NYNY. Once again I hit the poker tables, which I end about even. I did manage to lose a $120 pot in 2-4 hold em. (5 way action, i turn the nut full house, guy chasing a flush rivers a higher full house man was i pissed) I once again get to bed around lunchtime.

Day 4

Basically same as day 3, Poker, Dinner at NYNY Cafe, Poker, bed.

Day 5

Wake up and play some poker mainly for the free booze. I realize though that I am totally burned out on poker now. We go to Gallagher%26#39;s at NYNY for dinner. Had a great shrimp cocktail. Some of the biggest shrimp i have ever seen, and a great fillet. Also enjoyed a few 7%26amp;7%26#39;s my brother got desert, I got another 7%26amp;7, which seemed to be the thing to do at the time. At this point, I am down about $700 on the trip, and only have $100 in my pocket before my next ATM visit. I started playing some double deck BJ at NYNY, (dealer hits soft 17, but it paid 3:2 on BJ). By the time I leave NYNY I have $1,000 in my pocket. So it%26#39;s probably time to head to bed, but i decide it would be a better idea to play BJ at MGM too. So I sit down at a table to with two young attractive ladies and start playing. They were actually there with a friend of theirs who is some local who was a high roller. I%26#39;m betting $25 a hand he is betting anywhere from $400 to $2,000 a hand. We all table hop around, as we were all having good luck. He sits at a $10 table where he sees a dealer he likes, and asks to raise the limit to $50 bucks a hand. The pit boss does it in a heart beat, and everyone at the table leaves. So I sit down, and ride the wave, and manage to have about $1800 when the guy asks if I wanna head up to the Wynn with him and his two hot friends in his limo. Before I get a chance to color up, they are gone. I end up playing a few more hands when the pit boss asks if i have a casino host. I told him I do not, but am leaving in a few hours, but am hungry and would at least like late check out. He gets me into the buffet, and arranges a 4:00 check out for me. I head to bed about 9 am my brother is shocked that I am still alive, I toss the $1800 in chips that I have right in his face and say lets go get some lunch. We hit the pool, for a little lounging, lunch then i pack and am off to Chicago. The return flight was one of the best plane rides i have ever had, as i slept the entire way.

Once I get in Chicago on Friday night, I have the option of going home, but I decide to go straight to my friends and we head off to the local bar and do 3 jager bombs in about 15 min. So much for my Vegas hangover. I party in Chicago, don%26#39;t get back to my house til 1 am Monday Morning, and have yet to still unpack.

A few other things that happened on my trip, but I am not sure when: Saw the $1,000,000 cash at Paris/Bally%26#39;s.

Went to Palms but was dead. Thought about going to Pure but line was too long.

Had a drink with a woman but told her to beat it when i realized all she wanted was my money to gamble with. (Saw her again a few hours later and realized I must have been really drunk when I was talking to her cause she was a real rough around the edges to put it nicely.

Played head%26#39;s up Poker at MGM for about an hour. lost 50 in about 20 min. then changed my styles and managed to come back and finish above water.

Bet against the Cubs, who I love, and deservingly lost the bet.

Put $100 into a slot, and cashed out 10 min later for $377. (Only slot i played all week)

If I have any more flashbacks, or supressed memories that come to my mind, I will be sure to add them.

I am already working on booking my next trip back sometime in August.

Trip Report: Four Seasons, MGM, 5 Nights and Almost no Sleep

Trip Report: Four Seasons, MGM, 5 Nights and Almost no Sleep

Now this was an excellent T/R. One of the best I have read in a while. I%26#39;ll be doin pretty much the same thing, without the poker...I%26#39;ll be at the hi limit B/J all night instread! Sounds like you did Vegas right!

My kind of trip report.

Great trip report.....how did you like MGM - if you can remember(rooms, etc)?

We are staying there in July for the 1st time.

Great Trip report, amd to think you were upset with your friend bailing out on you. I think your trip in Aug should be by yourself, you can set your own schedule. I go to vegas bymyself and wouldnt think of bringing anybody with me.

Excellent TR. I used to be able to hang in there like that, but that was 20 years ago! lol Glad for your wins, and glad you had a fun time!!

For someone who asked about bringing thier own beer in a softsided cooler to the MGM pool, you sure are a medium roller. Gotta go now-time to tie up my big blue ox.

Come to think of it, the high roller I was playing with name was Paul. Seriously though, I was on a streak, rode the wave, and ended up in the black. I%26#39;m sure that happens all the time judging by all the multi billion dollar casinos in Vegas. And yes I did ask about bringing beer to the pool. I splurge when I want, i.e. Four Seasons, and save when I want also.
