Continental out of Newark

Since I waited too long and missed out on Jetblue(wife could not make up her mind) got a good deal on Continental out of Newark(125 bucks less than Jetblue)

Anyone use Continental recently? Especailly out of Newark.

Thanks

Continental out of Newark

We fly Continental out of Newark all the time. Thinking of booking them for my August trip. I like Continental, they have many flights out a day and most are direct. You can also return during the day, since they offer more than just the Red eye flights. They have most of their flights out of the brand new C terminal so you have some food/shopping choices before boarding.

The planes to Vegas are generally 757%26#39;s which have three and three across. The seats are pretty comfortable (as far as airplanes are concerned).

The long term parking lot is far away, so give yourself lots of time to get from there to check in and security in Newark usually takes a while. Plan to arrive early.

I almost always fly out of EWR -a lot of times using Continental-sometimes to Vegas. I think it is one of the better airlines. The seats seem more comfortable and they do provide some food on some of the flights. It is usually just a tiny sandwich, a small bag of potato chips, a piece of fruit (sometimes) and a small piece of candy- but that is more than you get on most airlines. They have usually been on time. Service has been good. Terminal C is large and has many shops, restaurants, etc. Security lines are long but they move quickly.

Long term parking runs about $20/day. There are some off airport lots that may charge less and provide shuttle service to the airport. Other alternative is to spend the night before at one of the airport hotels and leave your car there. A coworker recently did that, one night at the Sheraton, with parking for the week, came to about $150.00. Depends on when your flight leaves, though, and how far you are from EWR.

You can pay for the airport parking with EZPass, but the charge comes through separately from the usual ESPass account.

I fly Continental 98% of the time out of Newark and they%26#39;re ok. Flying isn%26#39;t what it used to be. Be prepared for lots of kids on the flight - almost like flying to Orlando. OK, maybe not that bad, but there are a lot of kids. Try your best to upgrade to first class.

Parking will cost you $24/day at the monorail lot and $12/day in Long-Term. Many of the off-site parking lots charge $10/day.

Last Thursday my connecting flight in Newark (Continental) was delayed by TEN HOURS. It was hell.

It wasn%26#39;t Continental%26#39;s fault, there was bad weather and the airport closed down.

But Continental did NOT handle it well at all.

They changed a lot of gates and canceled a lot of flights without updating the information boards. We%26#39;d ask the gate agents and the customer service people for information and they generally were not polite -- even though we bent over backwards to be polite to them. (we were just asking for a little information -- no need for the attitude.)

Weather happens. I understand that. But Continental really wasn%26#39;t good at managing the situation.
