My husband and I stayed at Paris in October last year and got upgraded to a P room (for free -asked nicely and got it - didn%26#39;t know about the $20 trick before getting addicted to this site). We%26#39;re going again in early June and I%26#39;m wondering if we should get a P room again, or try for a standard strip view room this time. Does anyone know if one is better than the other? We loved the P room and its partial view of the strip and I know it%26#39;s bigger, but is the view better from a regular strip view room? Any advice from someone who has stayed in both would be appreciated!
Paris: Strip View Standard Room or ';P'; Room
I%26#39;m wondering the same...going to LV on Sunday and wondering if the $20 trick would help? There are two huge conventions in town and the room I have reserved is through the convention rate as a guest of the convention (AND a first-timer to Las Vegas!)
I%26#39;m figuring I should first tell them it%26#39;s my first time to Las Vegas to see if I can get an upgrade and if that doesn%26#39;t work use the $20 trick.
Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks!
Paris: Strip View Standard Room or ';P'; Room
I have stayed at Paris 2 x%26#39;s before and when you ask for a strip view on a high floor they auto. say 40.00 extra per night.
But, I would still ask and you can mention it is your first time in LV, but if you cant get a strip view dont worry all the standard rooms are nice.
I am going back in 08/06 so hopefully it will be slow there and maybe if I ask nicely I can get a ';P'; room with me mentioning that this will be my 3rd stay there since 03/06. I want a nice room since I am bringing my minor Daughter and we are in the room alot at night.
remember the even# rooms are strip view, have stayed in rm 1888 very nice and read someone stayed in 1890 as said it was nice.
bump
I stayed at Paris and we asked for a strip view, and it was no additional charge. Awesome view of the eiffel tower and the bellagio fountains from our room!! We were in a standard room.
Komodo, it depends on a few factors.
1. What the occupancy rate is. If they are pretty full, then chances of getting a ';p'; room free are slim and they will offer you the$40 upgrade price if at all.
2. What time you check in. If you are checking in on the early or late side you may have a better chance, but at 8pm on a Friday, probably not much unless you are willing to pay the extra $$ if even available.
3. If you have a total rewards platinum or diamond card. I will assume you do not otherwise, you wouldn%26#39;t be asking this question ;)
I have stayed in both types of rooms. the p room definitely gives you more room to walk around as there is more space between the bed and the tv cabinet, and you get an extra window. But the bathrooms are the same in all standard and p rooms..You only notice a substantial change, when you upgrade to a Lemans suite (which I highly recomend you do if it%26#39;s available) It%26#39;s worth the extra $$. Whirlpool tub, seperate shower, 700+ sq feet...
As far as the $20 trick goes, that%26#39;s a BRIBE. What you do instead is hold a $20 in your hand where they can see it, ask them for an upgrade and if they give you one, then at the end of the transaction you ';tip'; them $20. The $20 trick is well known in all hotels and managers are watching for it. Don%26#39;t wanna get the front desk agent in trouble now do ya?
