Pls. Help. Can anyone tell me why hotel prices are so high during the week of August 13-18, 2006.
The week before and the week after most prices (for rooms) go down 30-40%.
After having reservations with the Golden Nugget, found out yesterday that they have postponed the pool opening from June..to July...to Summer 2006 and NOW Fall 2006!!! Cancelled reservations and moving back to the Strip!
Thank you. Viva LAS VEGAS!!!!!
August 13-18th, High Hotel Prices
There are deals out there. Just get on the e-mail lists of the casinos.
Thumbs down and afrown to the GN about the pool issue. I mean they should tell you upfront that it is not open right.

The GN%26#39;s pool situation is pretty lame. It%26#39;s gonna be great when it opens though...
This is what they have posted on there website.
COMING FALL 2006
Our remodeled pool area will make a splash this summer as the centerpiece of the Golden Nugget property and the core of Vegas鈥?hottest action. This multifaceted oasis will feature a mountain, shark tanks, waterslides, cabanas, and a very tropical environment.
Great...Sharks...
There is a pretty big convention that week, I don%26#39;t know if that is the reason for the higher prices.
I just got a flyer today in the mail for TI. $139 a night when I typed in your dates. Strip view room, comp welcome cocktail, $15 lunch or dinner food credit.
www.treasureisland.com/pages/promotions.asp or call 877-564-7898 code STIMD1
There is a convention going on during those dates. Not a huge one but 52,000 is enough to move prices. The rates at the Orleans and Gold Coast look reasonable. I don%26#39;t know if their pools are good but they at least have %26#39;em.
Don%26#39;t know what or where you are looking for, but lvtb.com has the Golden Nugget (4 star) for $49/night, which is a great deal. It is downtown however, don%26#39;t know if that is a problem.
On the strip Stardust is $55/night at hotels.com and onetravel.com has the IP (mediocre hotel but fab location) for $61.50/night.
If you are looking for something more upscale Monte Carlo is $108/night at orbitz.com and The Rio is an avg of 109.20/night at onetravel.com.
All those rates seem reasonable to me, so there are deals to be had.
mucho thanks to all for your input.
The Nugget is definitely out...until the resolve their pool issue.
I need my Vegas fix...a cold beer, a loose slot machine while enjoying the vile nicotine and of course the noise of all of us Vegas visitors in the party mood!
While I want the Fremont Street ambience, I may just be relegated to the Strip!
IP is a fun casino, not sure about their rooms! But do I need a pool at a casino/hotel on the Strip in the $100 range....any thoughts?
The IP rooms are actually not bad if what you are looking for is somewhere that is clean to sleep. The IP also has a pool, but it is rather basic and lame compared to other Vegas pools.
The food at the IP $uck$. (LMAO - I can%26#39;t say $ucks!)
The Trop could also be an option, and I believe the Aladdin is running some specials.
