Should i stay at the Venetian?

Starting to second guess my choice.

I%26#39;ve heard really good things, and then read some bad reviews too (hotel too big, lots of walking to get to the rooms, pool isn%26#39;t that nice, etc). I%26#39;ve been to the Venetian a few years ago, but not as a guest, just walked around and took a gondola ride. I really liked it there but I was staying at Paris at the time and it seemed like a far walk. I loved how Paris was so centrally located but don%26#39;t want to stay there again, I want to try something new!

Also, the room rates at the Venetian are really cheap the week I%26#39;m going, (less than Bellagio, Caesar%26#39;s, MB) so that%26#39;s a big factor.

I like the suite from the pictures I%26#39;ve seen and I was all set to book, but for some reason I%26#39;m getting a weird second guessing myself thing...it%26#39;s really not THAT far down the strip, right? It was about 3 years ago when I was there so maybe I%26#39;m just not remembering correctly.

About to book our room (most likely today) and want some last minute opinions......thank you!

Should i stay at the Venetian?

How ironic, going through the same second guessing. We usually stay at the Paris and we received a sweet rate for Venetian, but it will be so hot in July and all of what we like to do is center strip. Thinking about switching to Bellagio but torn as you seem to be.

Should i stay at the Venetian?

No its not really that far down the strip (in fact it is considered center strip) - I love staying at the Venetian and have always had a good time there - that said if you are a REAL pool person you will probably be disappointed - for the hour or two I spend at the pool, the Venetian%26#39;s is fine. Walking is a fact of life in Vegas, unless you have a health issue you will be fine. Yes if you enter from St Marks square you will have to walk through the casino to get to your room and it can seem like a long way (just like MGM or Belliago), if you get tired, stop and rest at a slot machine.

Lol. Glad i am not the only one. The bellagio rate is 199 i think, while the venetian is only 129 with the travelzoo promotion.....i really was excited about staying at the venetian, not sure why i am iffy now! think it%26#39;s the whole location thing (plus i do love those fountains at the bellagio!!!)

and thanks traveler -- i%26#39;m not a big pool person (i am really not big on swimming and burn after .5 seconds) so the pool isn%26#39;t a big deal for me, but figured we%26#39;d like to use it for an hour or so a day to cool off and bf loves swimming.

didn%26#39;t know that venetian was considered center strip! like i said, it was a while ago when i went last time!

Definately stay at the Venitian. I stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it. The bathrooms are amazing! I liked the pool. We had agreed to ';no guarantee for a view and non refundable payment upon reservations'; for a discounted room rate. We arrived early, a room was available. And it had a view...an amazing view. We had a view of the pool and the strip. We could lay in bed at night, with the curtains open, and watch the fireworks from TI. It was truely amazing. If I could have afforded it this time around, i%26#39;d be there again. But when i booked (thru Southwest vacations, so no going back when hotel prices dropped) the Venetian was way too high. We%26#39;re staying at Paris this go around.

I would say out of all the places I have stayed (Wynn, MB, Rio, MGM, Paris, to name a few), the Venetian by far has the best standard room. All rooms are suites, with large sunken living rooms and huge marble bathrooms. I stayed in the original building.

Yes, the place is huge. The third largest in Vegas.

As far as location, it%26#39;s still pretty good. You have TI and The Mirage across the street, and Wynn next door. As you probably know, ';next door'; may mean a mile walk though.

I%26#39;ve eaten at most of the restaurants there and found them to be really top notch. A real bargain and great place to eat is the Gran Lux Cafe. I believe it is owned by the Cheesecake Factory.

The reception area, shops, canal, are all very oppulent.

I have seen the Blue Man group 4 times at the Luxor, and just loved the show. Now Blue man is at the Venetian.

Well, now for the part I don%26#39;t like. The casino. You enter down through escalators. You kind of get the feeling that the casino is in a basement. The layout is boring. And compared to other casino%26#39;s, it is relatively empty, with not much action going on.

Since the main reason I go to vegas is for the casino, and to have fun, I find that the Venetian is not for me.

For me, my new home in Vegas is Wynn. There is nothing boring about this place.

Hotels with thousands of rooms will receive bad reviews. That is just a fact. Venetian is a great hotel with everything you would want under one roof. My only negative is catching a cab there is kind of weird. I have never cared about center strip and think it is fool%26#39;s gold. If you can%26#39;t have a good time at Venetian, WYNN, Fashion Show Mall, TI %26amp; Mirage area, then I%26#39;m not sure you can have a good time.

I just booked the promo rate at the Venetian. I second guessed it as well...but that is just because it was still expensive to me! I am very much looking forward to it! I also love bellagio, but assoiate the place with someone I dont care for...so the venetian was an obvious choice for me on the luxury front. I am also staying a few days somewhere else to round out my experience, and experience another part of the strip so I am not dead from all the walking!

Ok, you%26#39;ve all convinced me - I%26#39;m going to stick with it and book the Venetian! :)

THANKS!
