This is our first time to LV. We are from British Columbia so our weather is not quite as hot!! We were planning to just take the bus along the strip but after seeing how hot it can get, it might be better to rent a car. Where do you park along the strip if you are driving??? Is there parking at all the hotels and if so is it costly?? Would we waste much time trying to find parking, etc or would it be worth it to have the air conditioning??? We won%26#39;t be staying on the strip but staying at Club de Solei on Tropicana. Another question, what Outlet malls are worth going to, if any? Any suggestions????
getting around in las vegasHello OK girl. I just returned from Vegas (first time). I had read on these forums that renting a car is a waste due to traffic, cost etc. So for the first day and a half, we would either walk from hotel to hotel or use some kind of transit system.
Most hotels are connected by some sort of walkway (qbove or below ground), and there is a double decker bus that moves people up and down the strip so you dont really need a car I guess.
We decided though to rent a car for the remaining portion of our trip, and in all honesty, if money is not an issue for you, I highly recommend it.
Every hotel on the strip has free parking, and in addition, free valet parking. You can drive up to the main entrance of any hotel, drop off your keys, and when youre done, your car will be returned to you at the entrance. Be prepared to drop a couple of bucks in tips for using this service. Also, during peak times, there might be a 5-10 minute wait to pick up your car at the more popular hotels.
I used valet at LUXOR, BELLAGIO, CEASARS, MGM, MIRAGE in one day. Dropped 10 bucks in tips and that was it. The valet service alone, in my opinion was EXTREMELY conventient. That, combined with our trip to the hoover dam, and the rental car pretty much payed for itself.
getting around in las vegasI always rent a car in Vegas-no matter what the season. It gives me the freedom to come and go when I want to. I am also able to get to off strip attractions, casinos and restaurants. Car rental rates are low in Vegas. I don%26#39;t have to rely on crowded slow buses, monorail stations far from the strip or pay cab fare. You can self park at any hotel for free-even if you are not staying there. You can also valet park for the price of a tip. Most valet and self parking garages are easy to get to. Driving on the strip can be slow so get a good map and you will be able to use the side and back roads. Most of the time you can avoid driving on the strip for long distances
There are three outlet mall- two in Vegas and one about 40 minutes away(Primm). I think the Las Vegas Premium Oultet is the best-although I admit I am not a big shopper in Vegas.
