How much/often should I tip my blackjack dealer? Am really struggling with this concept, as such tips are illegal in the UK
Do I tip every hand, or every fifth/tenth...? Or at the end of a session?
And if I place a bet for them, rather that a straight tip, should that be every hand, or every fifth/tenth...? And should the dealer get both the stake anddany winnings, or just the winnings??
And finally, how much should the tip/bet be? And should it be more if I am winning, rather than losing?
I intend to play mostly at the MGM (inevitably, early in the morning, whilst my family sleeps in) at around $25 a hand
Any guide to what is expected would be much appreciated
Thanks ever so much for your help
How much to tip a blackjack dealer
How long is a piece of string?
Tip whatever you are comfortable and happy to tip - to do anything else will put you off your game.
You don%26#39;t have to tip straight away you can get a feel for the table etiquette just from experience and being sat there with others.
How much to tip a blackjack dealer
Customary is 10% of your initial buy in when you or your dealer leaves the table.
10%+ if your dealer gives you winning hands (less for losers...LOL).
If you watch other players at your table you wil notice that some never tip regardless of whether they are up or down. Sometimes you will be the only one putting out a chip for the dealer. I have read that you should tip your average bet once an hour. Sometimes I will put a bet out if I have made money on the previous shoe. If I am having a good run and have been hitting black-jacks, I will bet my BJ cap for the dealer. One thing you should never do is tip a dealer that won%26#39;t make eye contact with you or appears to be in a foul mood. These types are not your friends and actually detest their jobs and the %26#39;punters%26#39; sitting in front of them.
Bottom line is go with your gut. If you are having fun and are getting along with your dealer you might share the wealth. If you are losing money ignore the dealers smile and funny jokes and run to the next table or casino.
I usually tip $1-2 on $5-$10 tables. Generally only when I%26#39;m winning. (Sorry, but if Mr. Wynn is cleaning me out, then his dealers aren%26#39;t going to get extra.)
Lots of times, especially when I%26#39;m up, I%26#39;ll take extra payout from a blackjack hit and tip that back to the dealer. Hey, already doubled my money on the BJ, so I can kick back the x-tra 3:2.
I tend to bounce from table to table unless I%26#39;m winning big, so tipping 10% of my buy-in would clean me out pretty quick. If I%26#39;m winning and the dealer is nice I%26#39;ll tip a buck or two every so often, it kinda depends on how I%26#39;m doing. If I%26#39;m losing or the dealer is a crab I don%26#39;t tip. There have been plenty of times I was the only one tipping so don%26#39;t feel like you are committing a gaffe if you don%26#39;t tip much.
I tip more if I am winning but do still tip at least a time or two when losing.
I usually bet $1 every several hands for the dealer if I%26#39;m doing average. If I%26#39;m doing well I tip more often and occasionally on a very good streak have also given a straight $5 tip (not bet, just given to dealer) as they were leaving.
First off, if you%26#39;re going to play at MGM do yourself a favor and stay off the tables with auto-shufflers.
As far as tipping goes, I don%26#39;t generally tip if I%26#39;m losing. If I%26#39;m paying the dealer%26#39;s boss, I shouldn%26#39;t have to pay the dealer as well. I know they make their money off of tips, but if I%26#39;m tipping the drink girl AND losing money at the tables, my meager little cash wad doesn%26#39;t need a third point of egress.
I%26#39;ll throw a matching bet up for the dealer every 20 hands or so, if things are going ok. Sometimes I just ask the dealer if they want the tip, or they want the play. Most just take the sure thing.
does not matter if u like or dislike dealer, all tips are shared at the end of the shift by all dealers. having said that u should tip about 10% of your buy-in .
Thanks all, very much for your replies.
Guess the point is to see what others are doing.
Still, very confusing!!
