LV Trip Report 5/28-6/1

Las Vegas trip May 28th to June 1st

Flew out of Columbus, Ohio on Southwest Airlines Sunday at 4:25 pm and the flight was uneventful. Arrived in LV at about 5:30 pm, retrieved our luggage very quickly and caught the shuttle to Dollar Rental Car. I had reserved a Dodge Magnum and when we got there they were all out and they tried to give us a Ford Taurus. My husband was not happy with that selection and the counter guy graciously offered us a Chrysler Pacifica without any extra charge. Very pleased with the car, great ride.

We checked in at the Aladdin for a one night stay. Reserved a non-smoking king room for the $49 special through their website. At check in the gentleman offered us a room that was 100 sq ft larger but it had 2 queen beds and it was smoking. He guaranteed that the room would not smell like smoke and it didn’t. The room had a perfect view of the Paris Eiffel tower. I was very pleased with my stay.

The next 3 nights we stayed at the Barbary Coast. We had a king room with 42 inch plasma TV and a cool view of Ballys and the Bellagio fountains. The room was not fancy but the room and the bathroom was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job. The casino is small but the dealers and the cocktail waitresses were very friendly. The location is also great! The only complaint that I have is while I was there my husband received a comp from playing blackjack, a dinner for two at the Victorian Room. It was the worse steak dinner (the worse dinner period) that I have ever had in Las Vegas. Thank goodness we did not have to pay for it. Hopefully that was a one time incident.

On the other hand we ate several meals at the restaurant at Ellis Island. The $4.95 steak special was wonderful and the service was wonderful. The comp card agent there at Ellis Island, Ce Ce, was terrific! As always the breakfast buffet at the Palm’s was excellent. The made to order omelets are to die for.

The last night we were trying to occupy some time so we went to Arizona Charlie’s Decatur. My husband played blackjack and I decided to go and play some late night bingo. I hit bingo twice and racked up $225. Not bad for a $35 investment and an hour of my time.

We visited several other casinos, South Coast, Orleans, Gold Coast and Sahara. We left out Thursday morning at 9:00am and landed in Columbus to a thunder storm. Oh well, it’s good to be back home. My husband and I had a marvelous time and plan on going back in September to stay at the South Coast.

Hey Trin, nice report! Sounds like you had fun.

LV Trip Report 5/28-6/1

Hey Trinity68, I have heard some people complain that there is alot of traffic/strip noise when staying at the Barbary Coast. Did you find the property to be noisy? Just curious.

nice trip report. thank you. i must add, that i just read someone else%26#39;s report, not 2 minutes ago, and they had dinner at the victorian room and loved it!! go figure.

glad you had a good time

Hey Trinity we were on your flight on the way out. I%26#39;ll be posting a trip report soon!

Trinity: Glad you had a good time. Just curious: Was the construction noticeable at the Aladdin? Stayed there late March and it was hardly inconvenient at all that week.Looking to go back there late October. If it%26#39;s any of my business: How did the rates compare between Aladdin and Barbary Coast.?

Trinity,

Thanks for the trip report. What did you like about South Coast that made you decide to stay there on your next visit? I am due to arrive there on Tuesday but I haven%26#39;t really read too much about this property other than the reviews posted on this site which don%26#39;t seem too consistent. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Nickleslots - The traffic noise at the BC was not bad at all. You can hear the Bellagio fountians when you first arrive, ( I was in room 244) but after the 1st day you are immune to the street noise.

Oakland - The construction was not a problem at the Aladdin. They are doing a great job of not disrupting the hotel guests or the casino guests.

mmlm01 - I stayed at the South Coast in early January and I really loved the rooms and the casino action. The hotel/casino is actulally an upgraded Orleans. The hotel was not totally completed so I wanted to go back when the pool area was operational.

Oh yah, Oakland - I booked the Barbary Coast earlier in the year and the rooms were $33.00 per night weekdays. I booked a room for my mother in law a few weeks after I made my reservation and the rate was $40.00 for weekday. I got the Aladdin special for $49.00. I do exensive research to get the best hotels and the best deals and I had good luck when planning this vacation.
