Safety matches and Gameboy ?

Since cigarette lighters are banned from airplanes, safety matches are allowed but only 4 books per person.. What in the world are safety matches?

Also, will we be allowed to bring gameboys, leapsters ect. on board? Hate to bring them if they are going to be confiscated...

Thanks for your input

Safety matches and Gameboy ?

Most matchbooks are safety matches. Any match that requires a special surface to light is considered a safety match. The type of matchs that aren%26#39;t allowed are ';strike anywhere'; matches. It%26#39;s a shame you%26#39;re not allowed to take lighters anymore, but you should easily be able to pick one up in the airport giftshop when you land.

You%26#39;re allowed to bring any electronic devices on board. Cell phones aren%26#39;t allowed to be used at any time while on the plane, all other devices are only restricted during take off and landing, they won%26#39;t confiscate them. At the very least all they%26#39;ll do is request you turn them off if you have them on at the wrong time.

Safety matches and Gameboy ?

I%26#39;m sorry, I might be wrong about safety matches.

';Their safety is due to the separation of the combustible ingredients between the match head and a special striking surface; and the replacement of white phosphorus with red phosphorus. The striking surface is composed of powdered glass and red phosphorus; and, the match head was composed of antimony(III) sulfide and potassium chlorate. The act of striking converts some of the red phosphorus to white by friction heat; the small amount of white phosphorus ignites and this starts the combustion of the match head.';

Holy smokes, I totally forgot about that. I%26#39;m bringing 200 books of matches for my wedding...do they allow you to carry them in checked baggage??

Thanks redbenny.. its funny 80% of all items confiscated are lighters. Doesn%26#39;t make sense if you can bring a matchbook on board but not a lighter.

Glad we can bring gameboys.. should keep the kids occupied for a while. I use the gameboy myself to play Brainage... fun.. it also has sudoku games on it.

mreneew,

If you pack them in your checked luggage they may not search your bag, but if they do they might take them away. Just to be safe I would call the airport you%26#39;re flying out of to see what their policy is.

Thanks, I will.

I should also mention, if you%26#39;re a smoker, the Las Vegas airport has several smoking areas throughout the terminals. Convienently enough, they have slot machines in them. Don%26#39;t use them though, apparently their payout % is no good.

We pack our lighters in the checked luggage and carry regular matches in the carry on.

The laptop (or other electronical devices) can be brought aboard and used when the captain says it is safe. As we always watch movies on the trip w/laptop and never have a problem. Just remember to place them in bins when you go through security. Laptops need to be out of their cases. Same with personal effects..just ask for a extra bin at security.

Matches are not supposed to be put into checked luggage. You might need to mail those out to Vegas to your hotel before leaving home.

As for lighters in checked luggage, against regulations as well. If they go through your bags and find matches and/or lighters not sure what they do since it%26#39;s checked luggage but you could be subject to a fine I%26#39;d think.

Only real restriction I%26#39;ve seen enforced with gameboy / psps etc other than takeoff lanidng is that they are used with headphones to minimise annoying other passengers.

So remember the headphones..been on one flight where they conficated the game as the ';adult'; insisted on playing it without the phones!
