We%26#39;re planning a trip to Las Vegas maybe the end of September. Is this a good time to go? If not why and when would be a good time? We want to start planning soon so would appreciate any advice as we%26#39;re complete novices when it comes to American travel. Thanks
Time to go?
Weatherwise, late September would ge great. Warm enough to swim, maybe hike in the parks, not as hot as July and August. You may want to check out the Las Vegas convention schedule, though, to be sure you%26#39;re not going when a convention is in town.
The first time we went was in mid-September, and it hit 105 degrees at Hoover Dam the day we visited. Having been to the Hemingway House in Key West in late August one year, the 105 wasn%26#39;t too bad, at least for the first couple of hours.

Try this website and pick a quiet time. Book your flight now and check hotel prices to find one to suit your budget.Try and stay sun-thurs (cheaper) and try and stay mid-strip. Check out the hotel section on this site for reviews and to see what will suit you. Use the search function on this site. When asking question ask specific questions giving taste budget etc. Read this site daily
Hemmingway House in August! You are a very brave soul!
Yes! September is a terrific time to visit Vegas. Are you touring many places in the United States, or just Vegas? Reservations, if you have the money to spend, Bellagio makes a great first impression of Las Vegas! If you are on more of a budget, I%26#39;d recommend the Monte Carlo, or the Mirage. Make sure you save some $$ for show tickets, pick at least two, maybe 3 for the duration of your stay here. Welcome!
Thank you Cynda for replying. We are hoping also to visit Grand Canyon while we%26#39;re in Las Vegas and then on to San Francisco and Yosemite Park (or maybe the other way around?) We haven%26#39;t actually booked anything yet, we%26#39;re still mulling things over. The Bellagio is out of our league this year although I know it is a wonderful place to stay (we have rich friends!). We have been told the Casino Royale (next to the Venetian) is a very well placed and economical hotel - any feedback on that hotel would be welcome.
The last week in Sept shows about 50,000 people in Vegas for various conventions - not an overwhelming number by Vegas standards, but enough to pop the price of a hotel room.
Check the reviews for the Casino Royal in the hotels section - I%26#39;ve never stayed there, but I%26#39;m sure you can do better.
As everyone says, sign up for a players card at a couple of different hotels web sites to receive special offers.
Check out a site called lasvegas4newbies - lots of good advice.
