BBQ in Vegas

In another one of my posts, the subject of BBQ came up. I figured it%26#39;d be better to post it as a separate topic.

My fiance LOVES BBQ. Since I am doing 99.9% of the planning for this trip, we%26#39;ll be eating and going to all the places I wanna go to! However, it would be a nice gesture if I took him to a place (as a surprise) that I know he would absolutely love. We go to BBQ places here, but I KNOW they%26#39;re not all that good. I lived in TX for 3 months, and you can%26#39;t even begin to describe the differences.

Anyway, for those of you who know and love BBQ, can anyone recommend a good BBQ place to go to in Vegas? Doesn%26#39;t have to be on-strip. Anywhere within an hour%26#39;s drive would be fine.

Any and all recommendations are welcome! Thanks in advance!!!

BBQ in Vegas

I would love to see the answers to your question as well.

BBQ, now we%26#39;re talking good food....forget the foig gras....give me BBQ

BBQ in Vegas

LOL...sweetsherry! I forgot to mention that yes, my fiance love BBQ, but it%26#39;s no chore for ME to eat it!!!! I love BBQ as well! Gimme a big a$$ napkin and a bunch a wet naps at the end, and you%26#39;ll see a happy me!

I%26#39;m talkin ribs, baby, and brisket and pulled pork! YUM!!!!!!!!! And don%26#39;t forget the cornbread!

I survived on making my own BBQ Beef Brisket....aka Texas Roast...until I went to Texas for a wedding.

My poor husband and brother...I dragged them to BBQ places for every meal over 3 days...and then for the wedding, they had the reception catered by one of the BBQ restaurants that we were frequenting!! CAN%26#39;T GET ENOUGH

We have 2 supposedly BBQ restaurants here in upstate NY,, but seriously folks, are they F**KING KIDDING ME??????

Kansas City, Kansas City here I come...

The 2 top rated BBQ restaurants in Vegas are Lucilles Smokehouse BBQ and Memphis Championship BBQ. There are several locations of the Memphis restaurant and Lucilles is located next to the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Henderson. I have actually been to Memphis Championship and it is very good and very reasonable and this is coming from someone that lives in Kansas City and home of the best BBQ restaurant in the nation by Zagat, Jack Stack BBQ!!!! Just check out the reviews. We are thinking of trying Lucilles when we go in July but will just see what we are hungry for. We will be there for 6 nights and the 5 places we have chosen so far are CC Steakhouse, Lawrys, Viva Mercados, Grand Lux, %26amp; California Pizza at the Mirage. We are leaving the 6 night open to see what we are hungry for. We love Maggianos and Pasta shop for Italian also.

Thanks, amfmoore. I wrote them down and will check into them later.

We have a Memphis here in lowly Attleboro, MA. Right around the corner. But I%26#39;m pretty sure it%26#39;s not the same thing. But who knows. It%26#39;s really not all that great, but F loves it. Then again, he%26#39;s never been to TX. :) This one%26#39;s just Memphis, not Memphis Championship or whatever.

sweetsherry, I wish I had gone to that wedding with you! I could definitely eat BBQ for 3 or 4 or 5 days straight!

Any more recommendations?

You KC people kill me. The best BBQ ';restaurant in the country by ZAGAT?'; Maybe the best BBQ ';restaurant';, but doubtful the best BBQ.

Can%26#39;t recall the last time that famous BBQ authority reviewed any of the BBQ ';JOINTS'; in Central Texas in the towns of Lockhart, Luling, Llano, Taylor, Elgin, et al, but would gladly wager that you can%26#39;t find better brisket or sausage anywhere in KC. You folks win on sauce I%26#39;m sure, but that%26#39;s only because our meat doesn%26#39;t need any.

BTW, don%26#39;t go looking for good BBQ in Las Vegas, buy a five dollar average steak meal instead.

steve....NO good BBQ in Vegas? :( Well, I%26#39;ll try Lucille%26#39;s anyhoo. Just for s%26#39;s %26amp; g%26#39;s. :)

One of my very best friends just moved to Austin from CA. She absolutely LOVES it, and is desperately trying to get me to go there. I probably will visit her at some point. When I do, where is the best BBQ (in YHO) to go to?

I have never heard anyone rave about a city/town the way she does about Austin. I%26#39;ve never been. I lived in San Angelo, but only for 3 months, and that was 25 years ago. That is my whole TX experience.

Oh, and yes, that $5 steak is at the top of my list! Hopefully, your last visit was a fluke.

I love ribs, too. I didn%26#39;t care for Memphis Championship BBQ very much, obviously other people do so it%26#39;s a matter of taste. I have heard good things about Big Mama%26#39;s but haven%26#39;t been there myself, it%26#39;s not in the best neighborhood from what I%26#39;ve read. In Las Vegas I like Famous Dave%26#39;s, yeah it%26#39;s a chain but I did like it a lot. There is also a good rib special at Ellis Island in their brewery, the ribs aren%26#39;t as good as Famous Dave%26#39;s but are half the price and nearer the strip. There are a couple of Tony Roma%26#39;s, too - another chain and probably about everybody knows what their ribs taste like already. I don%26#39;t know much about Lucille%26#39;s.

Well being an avid traveller, BBQ fan, and LV resident; there is not really any great BBQ here in LV. One no one will tell you about is Big Mammas Rib Shack. Memphis and Lucilles are OK, but nothing worth making a special trip for.
