booking hotel rooms

How far in advance should you book your hotel room? Can you get better deals by waiting? Going first week of August. Staying on the strip first time in Vegas.

3 months ahead is good time to start looking-you are running late. Book directly with hotel if they have a 48-hr cancellation policy, check your dates weekly, if rates go down, you can cancel %26amp; get the cheaper rate, not so with travel sites. First time on strip-where are you thinking of? Center strip is my favorite: easy access to both ends of the strip.

Booking at either the Stardust, Excalibur or Tropicana. More reasonable rates than many of the other strip hotels and decent reviews. Plus all three have pools (I read in a couple places that the pool at Excalibur is not that great though).

There is no point in waiting to book the hotel room. Pick a hotel and make the reservations. If the prices drop you can contact them and they will usually give you the lower rate. Most hotels have a 48-72 hour cancellation policy so you can keep looking for bargains. Sign up for any e-mail notifications on as many hotel sites as possible.

Booking at either the Stardust, Excalibur or Tropicana? Don%26#39;t worry about these rates going up or down, kind of the lower end of the hotels. Get on their mailing list and you will probably get a night or two free. It appears you have a budget issue.

Trop has the best pool of the 3. Excal is kiddieville and very tired and smokey. The Stardust, well lets just say you get what you pay for.

Bottomline these rate will not change very much they have to have low rates to get people. Sign their ';guest books'; and see what you receive!

Trop is definately better than those two......

Heck, I think Sahara and Strat is too.

You%26#39;ve gotten good advice, already, but wanted to add one thought. If you book through the hotel directly, you are more likely to be elligible for an upgrade at check-in than if you book through a third party.

Hello,

Just thought I would let you know about the Monte Carlo, they have a good summer promo, go to montecarlo.com/summer the offer code is xsummer.. This is a pretty good hotel and if you book online they have rooms from 69.00 per night mon-thurs. Not sure if this helps but I like it there.... Also so check the previous posts on the board someone posted a bunch of promo codes for some other hotels that you might be interested in. I hope this helps..

You will find much better rates the 3rd week of Aug

Keep scouting the web sites and monitor rates, they may go down and the time approaches and the hotel think they won%26#39;t sell out..but not often

Do not be tempted by low rates at ';3'; star hotels, they are dumps

Watch for a good rate at nice but moderate-price properties like Luxor, Monte Carlo, (sometimes)Aladdin, TI, Ballys, Harrahs, NYNY

Best pools at sometimes modest rates..Monte Carlo, Flamingo, MGM, Luxor

Hooters is a remodeling of the old San Remo, the rooms might be nice after remodel, the pool is new, decent location...throwing out low rates some dates...

Excalibur is cheap, well located...but devoid of class

RECONSIDER your choices.they are depressing places, except maybe some of the pricier rooms at tropicana...a few buck extra for a classy property is the best money you will spend in Vegas,

Wanna go super cheap , but with definitely inconvenient location Stratosphere...a vigorous young person can easily walk back and forth to center strip..the rates are great for decent quality..the tower is cool

the old pool on the 26th floor is now ';adult'; with ';european%26#39; sunbathing
