If I had to chose just one?

Going to vegas in July and want to visit Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire. Seems like they both offer the same sights, so whick one should I plan on seeing?

';Same sights?'; No. Valley of Fire would be my choice, hands-down.

You could easily do both in the same day.

Red Rock is very nice and it is closer to the strip. They have an 11 mile loop you can drive with pull out points where you can get out of the car and enjoy the scenery or go for a short (or long hike). It is a favorite of rock climbers.

VOF is a much better choice although it is farther away. It has stunning red sandstore formations that will take your breath away. They do have a short 2 mile loop you can drive but you really should get a map and see the whole park. There are all kinds of hiking opportunities. I hiked there in July and August and it is doable if you take water, a hat, etc. You must see the petrogyph canyon(short hike) to see Indian rock writing. White Domes is another area I enjoy. They do have picnic areas (bring your own food) and restrooms available. You can easily combine this trip with Lake Mead and (if you are interested) Hoover Dam. A Lake Mead/Hoover Dam/VOF trip is a ';must do'; in my opinion. Then you can go see Red Rock Canyon.

I can tour HooverDam, then fo Valley of Fire, and still have time to do Red Rock in the same day?

Does any one know if seeing Dam ,Valley of Fire, and Red Rock is do-able in 1 day?

How hot in July does it get at the Red Rock Canyon; is it less hot than the strip?

Yeah, start early enough and you can do all three. I%26#39;d start with the dam, swing up the east side of the lake to VoF, and finish at RR. I%26#39;d skip the canned dam tour and museum.

Is it only worth seeing the observation deck of the dam tour than the informationn videos, visitors center?
