Las Vegas with 12 year old

Hope you have very thick skin. Stl back with some popcorn and enjoy the show.

Las Vegas with 12 year old

You are going to get plenty of suggestions- just brace yourself for the ';keep your child at home'; posts!!

If your child likes animals: Shark Reef (Mandalay Bay), Secret Garden/Dolphin Pool (Mirage) and back of the Flamingo- flaminos, koi, etc.(unfortunately they just removed the smelly penguins) and Lion Habitat at MGG.

There are plenty of opportunies to shop- Forum Shops(Caesars Palace) and Fashion Show Mall (between TI and New Frontier). The Forum Shops also have two moving statue performances throughout the day.

The Luxor has an IMax theater that shows 3-D movies.

If you are going in August you will want to spend time at the pool.

There is a roller coaster an NY NY and one at the Sahara.

There are movie theaters at the Orleans (shuttle) and on the strip.

You can go bowling at the Orleans.

Many of the hotels have arcades for children.

The best thing you can do (especially since you are coming from UK)- rent a car and take your child to see some of the spectacular surrounding areas- Valley of Fire/Lake Mead/ Hoover Dam or Red Rock Canyon.

Gilly57,

Which hotel will you be staying at?

Back to school shopping at the factory outlet would be high on the list.

Here is a C/P from VP03

Here is the list of outlet centers in or around Vegas. You will find a list of the stores and transportation information:

Las Vegas Premium Outlets 875 S. Grand Central Pkwy, I-15 exit 41B, Charleston Blvd.

www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp鈥?/a>

Las Vegas Outlet Center 7400 Las Vegas Blvd.

www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp鈥?/a>

Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas- Primm

There is also Fashion Show mall on the strip:

www.thefashionshow.com

Sight Seeing at Aladdin (Desert Passage), Caesars (Forum), Venetian, Mirage (Tigers), MGM (Lions). M%26amp;M building, free 3D show.

These are just a few things you can do...the list is endless. Do a google search with Kids in Las Vegas....and you wlll find tons of information.....also type in ';kids'; in the search box on this web site....you will find a lot of information as well.

Check out www.vegas.com and their is also a kids section.

Cheers

My phone is going straight to answering machine, have my chips and dips ,2 cold beers ,i am all set for the show ,whos up first.??

Vegas257, Gilly57 does not know what hotel or even which area he is staying at,his hotel is allocation on arrival, could be strip,off-strip,ellis island, downtown or even henderson,I checked for trolls and the same questions on L.A and San Fran forums .

Sounds like the grand tour in reverse. Don%26#39;t people ever learn? Arriving in a strange country and no clue to where you are staying.

some UK package companies offer hotel on resort arrival

as they are sold off cheaper and allocated to hotels that have rooms

available. this is quite normal in the UK.

But what a nice welcome you americans are giving these people and what a fine impresion of your hospitality for ther 1st visit to Vegas.

You will have a great time along with your daughter we come over from the UK twice a year theres loads to do.

Visit Laughlin the people are friendly and welcoming

Hey isobelle just pointing out the facts. Vegas is different than mallorca or benidorm as i am sure you are well aware,to arrive in Vegas A.O.A no matter how much you save is just plain crazy especially for a first visit and with a 12 yr old in tow (oh by the way I have no problem with kids in Vegas, its a free world)apart from safety concerns what you save will quickly go on cabs if you are far enough off the strip, as I said its just the truth.

gilly, search kids in vegas on this forum.

if you can, try and stay off the strip, at the orleans, or at a nongaming hotel.

good luck~

isobelle, relax, he was just being honest. having never been to europe, i can hardly fathom booking my first trip with a service who is going to let me know where i%26#39;m staying at their whim. it just sounds a little risky for someone savvy enough to find this site.

and looking for a hearty welcome in america is like looking for one in new york.
