Trip report May 30 to June 2

We arrived from calgary at 8:35 am as scheduled with America West. Got bags and went to airport checkin for Bally%26#39;s, only 1 person in front of us. Were given room but were told it was not clean yet. To be expected for 8:30 am. Charged shuttle to room ($12) which is more expensive than if you go outside and do it yourself , but at the end of our stay we got all room charges(which included $40.00 in internet, shuttle for 2 and a phone call) comped so shuttle was free. Bally%26#39;s was the first stop so shuttle only took 7 minutes. Checked our bags and went to gamble a while. Went to lower level to the deli and had breakfast. 5.95 and got choice of meat, two eggs, toast and hashbrowns. Very filling. At about noon went to check out/key pickup, no line, and got the keys to our 8th floor north tower room. We had a view of the roof and a parking garage. Since room was free through a mail out and we only used the room for sleeping didn%26#39;t care about the view. Room was clean and didn%26#39;t have a single complaint. Unpacked got changed and went back downstairs to see how hubby was doing in 11 am poker tournament. He came in 5th, money is paid out 4th place on. Just missed it! spent rest of day looking around and gambling. Went to todai buffet in Aladin. This is a japanese seafood buffet. It was around $25 but we loved it!! Crab cold or hot, baby lobster tails, shashimi, sushi, fish etc. Drinks extra. Made to order crepes for desert if you have room.

This is our 3rd trip so it was meant to be for gambling and shopping as we have done most of the sightseeing stuff before.

On the second day I went to the Premium outlet mall and did some shopping. I used the duece to get there which is very empty in the mornings and was great to be up high to see verything. Also got to watch the Belagio fountains while waiting for the deuce. Bus driver was friendly and told me where to get off and where to catch the next bus to get to the mall. Not in the nicest area but all was fine. For me from Calgary the outlet mall is a steal. There are lots of kids stores so I pick up alot of kids clothes. Jeans I looked at for my daughter at Childrens place here are 24.50. Got them at outlet store for 7.99. And the list goes on. Caught a cab back to Bally%26#39;s as I had alot of bags and it was late afternoon and very hot. Came to $16 with tip. Checked on hubby who came in 5th again in 11am tournament.

We had big plans for eating on this trip but had a head cold before leaving and did not have an appetite at all on the trip so we did most of our eating at malls fast food etc.

Third day went to sahara at the end of the strip to try the driving experience. This is only 10 bucks, but if you purchase your tickets at the monorail you can get the driving experience and two monorail tickets for $15. Watching from the top of the monorail and even from the ground this looks like no big deal but it is very different doing it. You get to drive two vehicles on your choice of two tracks. A speed track and an off road track. There are corvettes, solstice, h2, H3 and some trucks and other GM vehicles. Only my husband drove and I went as a visitor(free). He took out a solstice and an H2. Wanted to do the corvette but they are automatic and he wanted standard. There is an instructor in the passenger seat and if there is room you can take passengers. They also have car/booster seats if you have kids with you. Hubby loved the solstice. Went with him in the H2. You would swear you are going to roll the car. You really get a feel for what a hummer can do on their off road track. There is steep hill you go up which is a little frightening but going down you feel like you are going to fall out the windshield. Was never so happy for seatbelts in all my life!! Well worth the $10. Be warned you have to pass a breathalizer. People in front of us did not pass and were upset they went all the way to the end of the strip and could not drive. When you leave you get a funbook for the sahara and we had their buffet at 2 for 1. Not anything amazing but edible and only $11 for two of us. Hopped on monorail right back to bally%26#39;s. Not crowded nice ride. Did some more gambling. No real big wins or losses. Played poker with hubby all night at flamingo. This was fun, Kind of a newbie but no one seemed to mind. Got back to room at 6am, checkout at 11am and plane doesn%26#39;t leave till midnight. HMMM. Going to be a long tired day.

Last day went to riviera to watch hubbys friends compete in a very large pool tournament. I went shopping at a ross for less store. We don%26#39;t have these stores here. What a find. Have been looking for queen sheets. Here cheap 180 thread count $50 and up. Ross for less. Very soft 320 tc $24.95. Love this place!! found some clothes for myself and then hubby made me leave before I could check out shoes and kids clothes. Bummer! Did some sightseeing and more gambling before having to go to airport. Had the Bally%26#39;s buffet for dinner and it was quite the disapointment. Have had it before and were quite happy but now that harrahs has taken over it is going downhill. There are not even crackers for the crab as harrahs won%26#39;t replace them when they go missing. Waiter said food quality has also gone down since harrahs took over.

Got to airport to find out that plane is delayed 2 hours and there is no where to lay down for a quick cat nap. Got home at 5:30 am and kids woke us up at 8. It took a while to recover from this trip thus the late trip report and we got the stomach flu after getting home.

Any questions just ask.

How much did the DRIVE cost? I had not heard about that before. It sounds fun. Last trip I did the NASCAR simulator and that was a blast. Thanks

Trip report May 30 to June 2

The drive is $10 for each person who wants to drive the vehicles. Pretty cheap by vegas standards I think. Any people with the driver who does not want to drive but only watch or ride as a passenger is free. By the way you get 2 laps on the speed track and 1 lap of the off road course. There is more info on the Sahara website.

Great report. Where is the Premium Mall?

Premium outlet mall is the one near downtown. I know that some of the info about shopping is boring but I wanted other western canadians who read this that don%26#39;t know about outlet shopping to know what good deals there are to be had. Also exchange rate is soo good right now it is not a worry.

stomache ache, or food poisioning?? they say food poisoning takes 24-48 hours to hit you.

no it was definately the stomach flu and we got it from family we visited after we were home. Have never had food poisoning in vegas and I have had the 99 cent hot dogs at slots of fun!!!

The Drive experience seems like a fun idea- was there a long wait for this attraction? Also can the tickets be purchased at any monorail station? Any opportunities for photo of you with the vehicle? The nephews would really get a kick out of seeing me with a hummer!

Thanks for your trip report.BTW,how you got comped for those room charges?It%26#39;s done automatically or you talked to someone at Total Reward center by check out? Thanks.

There was no wait when we went at about 4ish. It closes at 5:30 I think. Takes just a minute or so for the breathalizer and for them to check your drivers licence and then you can look around at the cars in the showroom or go straight to driving. I didn%26#39;t see anyone taking pictures but I am sure you could. The people were not pushy or trying to rush us at all and were quite willing to talk about the cars.

Sorry I forgot to say that I think you can only purchase the combo ticket at the sahara monorail station that you pass to get to the Drive.
