Booked a week at this casino downtown. Good or bad choice- price was right. What should I know? Do they have coffee majers? Snack Bars? Decent poker bars? Entertainment? Rooms? Thanks

Anyone been there??
Fitzgerald's Advice- Heading Soon
Haven%26#39;t stayed there, but just got back from Downtown Vegas) so will try my best to remember till someone who knows more can help you.
I think in general the rooms will be fine- sort of Holiday Inn quality ( there must be reviews on this site). I don%26#39;t think any hotels in Vegas provide coffeemakers in room- because they want you to walk through the casino for everything. However, right next door to Fitz is Walgreens and they had a sign advertising a 4 cup coffee maker for $9.99 , so I%26#39;m guessing you could buy one and a few mugs and supplies- or there is a McDonalds in your hotel, I believe.
I think of allthe Downtown Hotels, Fitz probably has the least appealing restaurants, but not to worry because there are better choices right up or down the street- there is a coffee shop at Four Queens ( Magnolias) that is quite good as well as a little brewpub called Chicago with good beer and pizza. Four Queens has a really good gourmet restaurant called Hugos which is expensive but one of the best in Vegas ( Dinner for 2 would be $100 plus).
We love the snack bar and the Coffee Shop at Binions right across the street- snack bar has amazing hamburgers and great chili and chili dogs. The Coffee Shop there has a good steak special and good eaarly ird breakfast.
You also MUST walk up the street to the Golden Gate Deli ( not the diner though that%26#39;s not bad) . The Deli has 99 cent shrimp cocktails that were featured on Food Network and also great Deli Sandwiches ( I love the French Dip).
The Fremont Casino bars have 99 cent margaritas ( like slushies in paper cups but so good). Their Buffet was also recommended to us by several locals.
The Coffee Shop ( Carson Street) at Golden Nugget is great. The Golden Nugget Buffet is also pretty good and further up and down a block or so ( Turn at the Plaza ) you will find the California with a good Pasta Pirate restaurant and a nice Prime Rib Special ( including dessert). The Main Street Station in that area has a good Brew Pub and a Good Buffet - certain nights have grilled to order steaks.
We have nevr dined in Las vegas Club but have heard that their Coffee Shop is not bad.
Not much entertainment dDowntown- the Gordie Brown Show at the Nugget and a few afternoon shows ( Elvis Impersonators etc) . You can hop on a Deuce Bus for $2 each way and go to the Strip 24 hrs a day if you want more entertainment.
Downtown appeals more to gamblers ( low minimums, fairly friendly dealers) and all the casino hotels Downtown are walking distance from each other, which we really like ( not so on the Strip).
My bottom line is sleep at Fitz, eat elsewhere downtown and you should have a fine time- you will definitely want to spend some time out on the Strip as well, however.
Didn%26#39;t mean to be so wordy, but I hope this helps!
Poster above me is keeee-rect. Nice place to stay, clean rooms (I requested above the 13th floor w/a view and got it), and friendly staff.
DO NOT EAT THERE. Molly%26#39;s buffet%26#39;d gag a buzzard of a gut-wagon. Main Street Station had the best Buffet downtown. Golden Nugget was a close second.
You needn%26#39;t fear the Fitz%26#39;.
Thanks so much........
I stayed at Fitzgeralds but it must be about 2yrs ago now. It is grand hotel, a cheap and cheerful place, good location on Freemont St, cheap places to eat nearby and good views from rooms if you get a high enough one. Our only grips were that the a/c in our room was horrendously loud so at night we ended up having to turn it off to try and sleep but then the room was like a sauna. Also the lift could be very slow and sometimes Q%26#39;s would form. But apart from that it was fine and I%26#39;m a travel agent and as my friends say I have crazily high standards! I think it%26#39;s nice to experience Downtown and we%26#39;re spending 2nts there this May before moving up to the strip but this time in the Golden Nugget, might as well try somewhere different.Have a good trip
We stayed at the Fitz a couple years ago, and always visit the casino and see a show there every time we go to Vegas. The rooms are fine, nothing too fancy, but clean. No coffee pot, though. Showroom has good shows. Especially loved Steve Connoly as the King. They also usually have a live band in the casino with a small dance floor. A Krispy Kreme on the premises, and a McDonalds, so we didn%26#39;t feel the need to use the buffet (which didn%26#39;t look very special). Can%26#39;t beat the price at the Fitz, so go for it.
All I know is they have THE best hot fudge brownie sundae in their coffee shop. Cheap,HUGE and delicious.
We stayed there last year and will be there April 25-May 2nd.
The rooms are clean nothing fancy. I have a eye disease and I like the Fitz because it is smaller and easy to get around in.
If you like to people watch go up on the 2nd floor of the casino and behind the Bar is a baloncy overlooking Freemont St.
We ate at the buffet one time and that was enough. The sausage gravy was really bad !!!!
We got a really good rate for this year.\In a newletter it said they are putting in a Poker room soon. I am so ready to go back !!!!!!!!
My husband likes it better than the strip. People are not in as much of a hurry and friendly.
Main Street Station has a good buffet.
Thanks everyone!
I agree with every one else. Stay at the Fitz and use your money for eating and playing. I wouldn%26#39;t choose it for a Honeymoon, but otherwise, it is a nice clean hotel. We like being able to walk easily from casino to casino. It is not as much of a problem now as is was a few years ago, but it is generally child free. Some of you may remember when Vegas decided to be ';family friendly';. You couldn%26#39;t walk the strip for the strollers. that lasted about 4 years and everyone began tearing out all the kids stuff and returning to adult things.
The Golden Nugget has a Starbucks with an outdoor seating right on the Fremont Street. If you are not a big breakfast eater, try McDonalds.
