mgm airport check in - slipping a $20 for good room?

Hi joeyb,

I have used airport check-in many times and I loved it. There have been thousands of posts about the $20 tip for a better room but I just ask nicely and explain why I want (occassion) an upgrade and usually get one. I even got a Lakeview Room at Bellagio for free !

I have stayed in the west wing twice, and I believe that all rooms are alike. They are funky and cool, but small and have no view. We liked them the first time, but second time they felt like a cave, Beds are great!

We didn%26#39;t to slip anyone anything - just got there early in the day and asked nice - got a great room with a fabulous strip view. Again I say - ';ask and ye shall receive'; - just remember to ask nice.

There are no fabulous views from any room in the west wing.

I checked in at the airport and got what I asked for quite easily. All I said was';I know that everyone probably asks you this, but if I could get a high up,strip view room I would be thrilled. If not I understand.';Not only did I get the view I wanted he offered me my choice between 3 rooms stating that the king room had the best view and since I needed a 2 queen he could have a cot sent to the room no charge. All that just because I was pleasant and not demanding.A smile goes a long way.At least that has been my experience.

We were not staying in the west wing though, we had a grand tower room.

Didn%26#39;t know about airport check ins.... is that only for MGM or any hotel??

I can%26#39;t be sure but the MGM is the only hotel I know for sure that has the airport check in. Almost makes it worth staying there for the convenience of that feature alone. By the time we fly five hours and get our luggage it%26#39;s VERY nice to have someone else take care of the room check in and getting our bags from the airport to our room. They were very happy to upgrade our room too - we got there early AM and asked if an upgrade was possible - they were very helpful.

Harrah%26#39;s has airport check-in too.
