An unlikley pairing I know! Well, I am graduating with my masters degree - 29 year old female. I have been to Vegas several times and very much enjoyed Luxor and that section of the trip when I stayed there -- I have stayed at Flamingo before and did not like it nearly as much (mostly the location and it was so huge and hard to get to everything, even though others did not have this problem, I also was sick that might have not helped). Anyway -- I got a great deal at Tropicana for three days Sun - Wed. I am looking foward to hanging out by the rumored great pool and getting out at night to eht luxor - mandalay bay - new york new york areas. On Wed, I will move to the Venetian for another two nights - great deal and intend to hang around the ritzier places.
Any tips or suggestions? I don%26#39;t really want to wait in stupid lines to go to clubs but still want to have a blast and party. I%26#39;m on a budget but will splurge for very special things...and I love spas....any suggestions there? any comments welcome THANKS.
Tropicana - VenetianI do NOT recommend the Tropicana ...even if the rate is low. It is really delapitated and has seen better days. When are you going? Rates are less Sunday thrugh Thursday during July/August at many good hotels.
Tropicana - VenetianIt%26#39;s Master%26#39;s Degree and not Masters Degree. Just kidding. Congrats maybe one day you can give me a job as a smart a.. or something. Well the Trop has really fallen hard but I know what you mean about that MGM, NYNY, Luxor %26amp; MB area. A lot of fun things to do. However, I would not stay at Trop to enjoy that area. I would try for Luxor or even Ex before Trop. However, you are doing it right. Slum at the beginning and finish with a bang. Also, try to have something planned for the timing difference between checking out of Trop and checking into Venetian, so you don%26#39;t feel like you are waiting around.
Check out TravelZoo.com. This site lists hotel deals and usually the link takes you directly to the hotel%26#39;s booking site. MGM, Monte Carlo, Paris, are all running specials this summer, and all are much nicer than the Tropicana. Travelocity also has Harrah%26#39;s for $47/night, but I have no clue for what dates. Plus, Harrah%26#39;s gets mixed reviews.
The Trop is not discussed here very often. If you can %26#39;snake%26#39; a smokin%26#39; deal - stay somewhere else.
Thanks! And forgive all the typos, I know I should be coming out of all this education with spelling skills! Just in a hurry I guess!
Good suggestions...I%26#39;m curious about the Tropicana%26#39;s pool...but Excalibur is a good suggestion I think considering its usually cheaper than the surrounding area, in the right location and nicer than Tropicana. So many kids though...I would think. But I also heard that The Tropicana has an older crowd. I might have to splurge on the Luxor....
btw Travelzoo is where I found both deals!
rgb, When are you going? We are staying at Luxor in July; very reasonable rates mid-week through MLT vacations.
You can check the Luxor%26#39;s web site too as they have promos being offered for good rates that include 2 for 1 buffets, IMAX tickets, etc.
Check also American AIrlines vacations; I know they have flights out of Chicago. The trip operators that offer charter air packages with your room are able to get you great discounts, you might even be able to stay at Venetian the entire trip this way.
I stayed at the Tropicana last year and would stay there again. Personally, as long as the room is clean and quiet, I couldn%26#39;t care less about it being outdated. I really enjoyed the pool. It was in a peaceful setting with lots of greenery, and there was swim up blackjack. The reason I chose Tropicana was that it was the cheapest hotel on the strip for that particular time, and had a great pool. It didn%26#39;t disappoint me at all.
The Trop is a dump. The Monte Carlo is rated in the top three for Best Pool consistently. Since you are willing to ';splurge for a very special thing,'; change hotels. Now. Seriously.
i have stayed at the trop before and if your looking for a place with just a room with a nice pool and going back and changing and then going out elsewhere you will be fine. the tropicana is very old inside and it shows. it has really gone downhill. if you want something with a nice pool and a nice room and a nice hotel in that area then i would go to the web sites of mandalay bay.com and mgmgrand.com and the monte carlo web site and check the rates at these hotels. in the summer they run some specials on sun-wednesdays. i know the mgm also gives some free things with their summer promotions. the excaliber and luxor poools arent really that great. good luck and have fun
Thanks.
MGM never interested me very much. But I will look into it. I like Luxor - though the pool isn%26#39;t that great. Mandalay Bay would be awesome but I just think it costs too much from what I have seen.
I think I might chance it on the Tropicana. I love the location and intend to spend most of my time there at the pool, and elsewhere at night. Has anyone been to the spa at the Venetian? I might spend time there on one of my last days. Heard it is not so intimate.
